Franklin House Dental CareA full range of careOur approach is preventative in spotting likely problems early and ensuring that you understand how to care for your teeth and gums. To provide the best possible care, adult patients who are exempt NHS charges are treated independently. NHS treatment is available for patients who are or become exempt from charges. Exemption is available to patients who are under 18 years old, claiming Income Support or Working Families Tax Credit, pregnancy or partial fees exemption. For these patients, private treatment is also available, particularly where cosmetic work is required. ChildrenWe regard children as special patients where our main aim is to encourage forming good dental habits and an understanding of dental health which will prevent problems in later life. There are a variety of toys, books and colouring activities to amuse children while they are waiting. Patients with special needs. If you are in any way disabled, please let us know and we will do our best to help. A limited home visit service is available by referral, please ask for details. Your diet & how it affects your teethA healthy diet is very important for your oral health. Every time you eat or drink anything sugary your teeth are under acid attack for up to one hour. This is because the sugar will react with the bacteria in plaque (the sticky coating on your teeth) and produce the harmful acids. It is therefore important to keep sugary foods only to mealtimes, limiting the amount of time your mouth is at risk. Acidic foods and drinks can be just as harmful to your teeth. The acid erodes the enamel, exposing the dentine underneath. This can make the teeth sensitive and unsightly. A diet that is rich in vitamins, minerals and fresh produce can help to prevent gum disease, which in turn can lead to tooth loss and cause bad breath. By making regular appointments with our hygienist you will protect your teeth against tooth decay and gum disease. What does a hygienist do? [tell

Tooth Whitening (also known as 'bleaching') is the most popular cosmetic dental treatment We recommend white fillings instead of mercury silver fillings. We recommend regular 6 month check-ups and cleaning. Implants are the only truly long-term solution to tooth loss, they will never require root canal treatment and they will never decay. We recommend regular 6 month check-ups and cleaning.
