Orthodontic Treatment

Orthodontic treatment is the branch of dentistry that involves the straightening of crooked or over crowded teeth. More and more adults who never had the opportunity as children to have their teeth straightened are turning to orthodontists to improve their smiles.

Modern orthodontic treatment usually involves the use of fixed braces to move teeth, enabling patients to be treated to a high standard and giving the best possible results. Almost anyone can have orthodontic treatment, although treatment times vary from patient to patient. You will be given an estimate at the start but the average time is about 18 months.

While traditional 'train track' braces are mostly commonly used, modern tooth-coloured and transparent braces are also available. Many adults prefer these options as they are less obtrusive. Removable braces can be used for minor corrections or for treating jaw discrepancies but fixed braces enable the orthodontist to position the teeth with the greatest accuracy.

If you would like straighter teeth or are concerned about your child’s teeth, talk to your regular dentist who will contact us. We will then send you an appointment and a scale of fees. It is essential that you maintain normal visits to your regular dentists while undergoing orthodontic treatment.
